Last night I was chatting to a couple of old high school friends on MSN, each of us in a different country. Anyway I think it lead me to remember this amasingly awesome SATB song we did for the choral federation festival in 1996. Man choir rocked that year! O sifuni mungu! Stupid people!

Einstein said: "Two things are infinite: Human stupidity and the universe, and I'm not sure about the universe" And he was so so right!!! Everyday I seem to encounter more and more stupid people, Dunedin is full of them, New Zealand is full of them, and this planet is full of them. I just hope the beings on other planets have learned to use their grey matter (or whatever their equivalent is!) better than homosapiens. Supposedly we are intelligent life-forms? I really have my doubts sometimes! Of course ignorance is bliss, this is true. The older I get the more I learn that I don’t know, and time is running out to learn it all, though I’m trying hard. But most things are straightforward, like Mathematics. It’s logical, easy to interpret and usually doesn’t take so long to do so; the bible on the other hard doesn’t seem so easy for people. The problem is people think it IS easy, so they take from it the superficial literal level that they see and treat it like they are reading “Hairy MacLeary” (But don’t get me started on critical literacy, most people miss 90% of what is in picture books! (Not a statistical fact)). The bible should be like Mathematics, with one correct answer, but people seem to believe it is open to interpretation, cos I have heard many different accounts of some aspects of the bible. Should I keep my frustration inward to avoid persecution from those who apparently love me? Or should I vent like Luther, and write prolifically? If I could have such a radical outcome as Luther then I would follow his tradition, probably will before my time is out. But the simple fact is that it is hard to live in this world without friends, even if most friends seem to live on the periphery, that’s better than nothing right? It’s said that I live in this world but not of it. I definitely don’t live of it, but usually feel I don’t live in it either. But then if I’m not sailing away on Shadowlands, then I’ll never feel like I’m on the same planet as those around me. It’s a good thing that God is my best friend cos he won’t excommunicate me, and he actually understands me! On a lighter note, anyone wanna come over and play the Da Vinci game with me?

Yeah yeah I know I should be working!

Also: This is hillariously fun! http://www.ratemybrain.com/

hahaha

[Cut to House, eating more of Wilson’s cooking and looking at the whiteboard in his office. Wilson enters.] Wilson: Enjoying the salad? House: There’s no lettuce. Wilson: I’m aware that there’s no lettuce. Do you know when I obtained this knowledge? House: Actually, I’m in the middle of – Wilson: When I made it. For myself. House: Well, how was I supposed to know? Wilson: Well, I was hoping this might tip you off. [points to cover, which has a post-it note on it that states: “MY LUNCH DO NOT TOUCH!!”] House: That’s kind of selfish, don’t you think? Wilson: I offered to make you some, you said no! House: Ah, that was before I tasted the pancakes. It’s a compliment, you should be flattered. [Cuddy enters.]

Top of the class

As much as I hate reality TV shows, I watched this one after 8 hours with St John kids today, many of them 6-8. Why do their mothers give them sugury lunches? Anyhow, I watched the show which has 6 NZ celebrities paired with 6 look a like 10 year old "mini-me's". They do school work and try to win points and prizes for their kid. So waht can I say? Matthew Ridge is an idiot, April is a goody goody and Cocky can't do maths, 19/20 is NOT 99.5%, more like 95%!!!

My own species!

Well obviously my favourite programme is "House" but my second favourite at the moment is "bones".It's great! And best of all is these two, cos they remind me of me! Goodman: Dr. Brennan, are you playing me? Brennan: You know I'm no good at that. Goodman: Hmm, thus far, but you have a disturbingly steep learning curve. Booth: Trying to track down the doctor? Brennan: Don't need him. It's definitely a toxin, but we can't determine what kind. Zack: Too bad the liver is cooked; that could tell us everything. Booth: You know, I need subtitles walking in here. Brennan: I've been thinking about your whole "something stinks" aptitude. Booth: Oh yeah? Brennan: I think you have a subconscious knack for reading body language. Stress in the voice, other subtle yet discernible indicators. It's not mysterious, but it is impressive and in the future, (deep breath) I will try to accord it an appropriate degree of objective worth. Booth: Thank you Temperance, I appreciate that. So, uh, what part of "this is mine" did you not understand? Have to say it in Latin? Brennan (gets up slowly, smiling slightly, and hands him the access pass he wanted while saying): Abscet invidea. Brennan: Maybe the young man died and the missing girl, hungry and lost, came upon him needing food. She-- Sheriff: Sawed him up and barbequed him? Brennan: What? There's no evidence that the hand was cooked. Brennan: Angela said rap artists sometimes kill each other over the music: Jam Master Jay, Tupac, Biggie. Booth: Do you even know who you're talking about? Brennan: Yeah, I've done my Googling. Zack: (Ranting maniacally) I was out taking the pictures you needed and there was a sign and numbers on the ground and I thought, "Why assume a quasi-randomly generated function-oriented paradigm?" Hodgins: Zack! When you talk that fast, human beings can't hear you.

Luther-my main man!

Anyone who has known me for a while knows my love of Luther and the reformation, het it was the topic for my indivdual choise topic for School certificate English! So obviously I would be a fan of "Luther" the movie, and naturally I was! Watched it twice yesterday! Could so easily watch it again and again! Does anyone else get irritated when talking about Luther and people think you mean Martin Luther King! No! I mean the original!!! Luther said some pretty cool things: I more fear what is within me than what comes from without You are not only responsible for what you say, but also for what you do not say All who call on God in true faith, earnestly from the heart, will certainly be heard, and will receive what they have asked and desired, although not in the hour or in the measure, or the very thing which they ask. Yet they will obtain something greater and more glorious than they had dared to ask Pray, and let God worry The fewer the words, the better the prayer (Man I wish people understood this!Karen) My heart, which is so full to overflowing, has often been solaced and refreshed by music when sick and weary Beautiful music is the art of the prophets that can calm the agitations of the soul; it is one of the most magnificent and delightful presents God has given us” Next to the Word of God, the noble art of music is the greatest treasure in the world Christians are rare people on earth (oh how truely true! Karen) Here I stand; I can do no other. God help me. Amen Man I could go on with the quotes, but with such a prolific writer, i'd be here forever! Luther, we need more people like him in the world! I say find me a man like Luther and i'll marry him! Luther, he da man!
